Senior Equine Groom Advanced Apprenticeship Standard
This Senior Equine Groom Apprenticeship will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to coordinate the day to day care of horses in the workplace.

Suitability - Who should attend?
You need to be employed in a suitable position and hold a minimum level 1 (GCSE 2 to 9) maths and English. If not already achieved, the apprentice will have to achieve level 2 English and maths Functional Skills
Training Course Content
What you'll learn
Core knowledge & skills will include
- Safe working practices & environment
- Yard & Field Routines and Management
- Horse Anatomy, Physiology & Welfare
- Horse Handling, Care & Appearance
- Nutrition & Fitness
- Travelling Horses
- Non-ridden Exercise
- You will select one of five specialised routes with additional knowledge and skills, including: breeding, driving, racing, riding or non-riding.
You will also develop core behaviour in safe working, work ethic, responsibility, team work and communication.
‘On the job' training with mentor support and assessment being carried out within in the workplace, with the college facilities providing extra resources if needed.

Continuing Studies
On completion of this standard, apprentices progress into full time employment within the industry or can continue to study at a higher level.
