Course description
This course will focus on the application of practical skills and acknowledge the common principles and distinctive characteristics of different art and design disciplines. The qualification has been designed to encourage exploration, experimentation and risk taking, which will extend your critical independence and enable you to demonstrate a full understanding of the relevant standards required to achieve progression to higher education. It provides a transition from general education to specialist art and design education. Units will be delivered by means of project work and will give you knowledge of a range of areas within the field of art and design. By the end of the course you should have built up a portfolio of work demonstrating a wide variety of skills and techniques.

Suitability - Who should attend?
This qualification is for students wishing to progress into higher education to study art, design or a related subject. The majority of students progressing to this qualification will have previously completed A-levels or a Level 3 Extended Diploma in related subjects. The Level 3 Diploma in Foundation Studies Art & Design is recognised across the UK as the primary entry route to the best courses at the most prestigious universities, with more than 15,000 students completing the qualification each year. UAL Awarding Body only approves institutions to deliver this qualification if they are able to demonstrate significant expertise in and commitment to creative arts education.
