NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety (UK / International)
The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety (FSC) is a global relevant fire safety qualification.
The course is aimed at health and safety managers, facilities managers, health and safety representative and anybody who manages fire safety as part of their duties within their organisation.
It also makes excellent continued professional development (CPD) for those who are looking to expand their knowledge.
The qualification looks at fire safety and can be applied in many sectors. On completion of the qualification, you will be able to:
- Justify fire safety improvements using moral and financial arguments
- Advise how fires and explosions can occur and the appropriate controls to minimise fire and explosion risks
- Advise their employer on the requirements for the fire protection of premises and workers including the appropriate training obligations
- Carry out a fire risk assessment in their own workplace – prioritising risks, inspecting the workplace, recognising a range of common fire hazards, evaluating risks (taking account of current controls), recommending further control measures, planning actions.

The NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety is accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) at Level 6 in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). For users in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, this is comparable to a vocationally-related qualification (VRQ) at Level 3 in the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). A Level 3 VRQ is comparable (in academic terms) to an A-Level.

Assessment
NG1: Open book examination (approximately 4 hours within a 24-hour window)
FC1: Closed book, invigilated examination (2 hours)
FC2: Workplace-based risk assessment task
Course delivery details
Live-Online
Students join remotely using a PC, laptop or tablet and download the relevant software in advance to enable access to the tutor run class. Throughout the course, students can see and interact with the tutor and with each other.

Continuing Studies
Holders of the NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety Certificate can also apply for technical membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH). Many students then progress to the NEBOSH National Diploma (Grad IOSH) and from there to chartered status (CMIOSH).
