The NEBOSH National General Certificate is established as a leading award in basic health and safety held by more than 65,000 people. This comprehensive NEBOSH Certificate eLearning course focusses on in Occupational Safety & Health (NGC) course which concludes with a two-part written examination and practical safety assessment, gives an excellent grounding in the fundamentals of occupational health and safety management.
After completing this NEBOSH Certificate eLearning course, you will have gained the competence and knowledge to recognise risks and hazards, analyse the significance of human factors such as attitudes and perception, and be able to report to senior management appropriate and cost-effective recommendations.
Examination Details
The examination comprises two 2-hour written papers (Papers NGC1 and NGC 2) and a practical assessment. Each written paper consists of one 'long-answer' question and ten 'short-answer' questions. All questions are compulsory. The written papers and the practical assessment must be taken at the same centre.
To help maintain flexibility, SHEilds allow students to sit the examination at a SHEilds registered test centre or at a local British Council where available however an additional sitting fee may be applicable.

Suitability and application
The NEBOSH National General Certificate is a qualification designed to help those with health and safety responsibilities (e.g. managers, supervisors and employee representatives) in order to discharge their organisational duties and functions more effectively.
The NEBOSH National General Certificate is not a qualification for health and safety specialists, who should seek to obtain a professional qualification such as the NEBOSH National Diploma.
Previous experience
No previous health and safety knowledge is required but students must be able to write short reports. Examinations are available at NEBOSH-approved centres, both in the UK and overseas.
