Course description
This course is designed for learners who are able to understand and use the basic Chinese grammar items and have learned around 1200 words. It aims at enhancing students’ listening and speaking abilities through discussions on various relevant and contemporary topics in daily life. Expansion of vocabulary is a focus at this level.
Individual work, paired work and group work are used throughout the course. New vocabulary and language points are strengthened and practiced by extensive reading materials, which are related to the listening and speaking materials. Prepared discussions and presentations help to develop the skill of how to construct coherent conversation. Around 200 new words are introduced. By the end of the course, students should be able to discuss topics in human relations, jobs, health issues and travel.
