Known as the Transfer of Undertakings regulations 2006 or TUPE, it has become a significant part of the United Kingdom's labour law by protecting those employees whose company has been acquired by another business. The objective of the regulation is to protect the employee by ensuring they are not dismissed, their contracts are not worsened or they have representatives which they can consult with or be informed by. Since 2006, many training courses have developed for further education.
Available Study Modes and Training Programmes
There are many different topics of training regarding the TUPE regulation that will be covered in the course. The instructor will discuss TUPE in a common language while legal counsel and human resources representatives will learn the legal framework behind the regulation as well as how the information can be applied to each specific organisation and the impact it will have on each business.
Benefits of Mastering TUPE Regulations
There are many benefits to this training that can be applied to every business in all sectors. Most major towns and cities have Protection of Employment training or it can be taken in online modules. By engaging in Transfer of Undertakings training, there are many benefits presented to the company. First, it allows attendees to better understand the different stages of a business transfer. Second, delegates will be able to interpret the numerous requirements of the TUPE legislation. Third, attendees can understand the rights of employees and the obligations that employers must adhere to. Finally, participants will learn how to apply the learned principles to their organisation.
Types of Study Modes
There are three types of Transfer of Undertakings classes available: open or scheduled courses, corporate / company-specific training courses and online learning programmes. Participants must travel to a learning centre to partake in scheduled Protection of Employment courses. With corporate Protection of Employment training, instructors often travel to the company after work hours to teach Protection of Employment principles. Finally, online programmes give employees the benefit of being able to take the courses and learn the information using flexible online learning platforms. The Protection of Employment content remains the same, the learning pace, time commitment can be adapted to suit everyone's schedule.
There are Protection of Employment classes available in most major towns and cities across the UK with different training providers, accredited to deliver with type of legal training. Transfer of Undertakings courses allow legal counsel and human resources personnel to learn more about the information they must follow when a business is transferred and the underpins of employee rights during that transfer.
