This page outlines the Terms and Conditions for the findcourses.co.uk 2020 Adult Learners Fund.

 

In these Terms and Conditions:

  • "scholarship" refers to the findcourses.co.uk 2020 Adult Learners Fund

  • "we", "us," "our" or "findcourses.co.uk" refers to EMG - Educations Media Group

  • "you" or "your" refers to you as the scholarship applicant

  • “education” refers to an eligible training course

  • “learning funds” refers to the amount paid to training providers by findcourses.co.uk on behalf of winners, up to the amount of £500 for an eligible training course

By submitting an application for this scholarship, it is understood that you have read and agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions.

 


 

1. Free Draw

1.1 Findcourses.co.uk is offering eligible participants the opportunity to enter into a free draw.

1.2 Eligible participants that enter the free draw will have the chance to win:

An eligible learning course up to the amount of £500 inclusive of VAT.

1.3 The draw will take place at least once per quarter (see: Draw Dates) with the total scholarship amount being offered by findcourses.co.uk over the course of twelve months being a maximum of £6000 inclusive of VAT.

1.4 If an eligible participant is selected to receive funding for an eligible course and the amount of that funding falls below £500 including VAT, that amount will be carried forward to either be used to draw additional winner(s) in the 2020 Scholarship or put towards the 2021 Scholarship, at the discretion of findcourses.co.uk

2. Applications

2.1 Scholarship eligibility

2.1.1 To apply for this scholarship, you must

  • You must be aged 18+

  • You must be a full-time mainland resident of Great Britain (England, Scotland or Wales)

  • You must be able to take the course within 6 months of the draw*

2.1.2 You must meet these eligibility requirements in order to be considered for this scholarship. If you do not meet the eligibility requirements, we will disqualify your application. You will not receive notification of disqualification.

Applications must be submitted in English. Applications in other languages will not be considered.

2.1.3 The Learning Fund is not open to:

  • Permanent employees of Educations Media Group

  • Members of the immediate families (meaning the spouses or civil partners of the relevant individuals and the individuals' lineal descendants) of employees of Educations Media Group

 

2.2 Course eligibility

2.2.1 As part of your application, we ask you to choose two courses and list these in order of preference. When awarded, we will choose the first course, providing it meets with our eligibility requirements.

2.2.2 If the first course you have selected does not meet our eligibility requirements, we will check the additional course provided by you, the applicant, and award funding for an eligible course within these

2.2.3 As part of this scholarship, findcourses.co.uk agrees to funding one course per winner that meets the following requirements:

  • The cost of the course is between £1 and £500 (including VAT) 

  • The course takes place either online or at a location within mainland Great Britain

  • The course has availability within 3 months of the application date

2.2.4 If you have not submitted any eligible courses as part of your application into the free draw we will disqualify your application. You will not receive notification of disqualification.

2.2.5 You may only submit courses you have not already booked or paid for.

2.2.6 Only one course will be funded per winner.

 

2.3 How to Enter

2.3.1 The free draw will run from 00:01 on 11 February 2020 (the Opening Date) to 23:59 on 11 February 2021 (the Closing Date) inclusive.

2.3.2. The draw is free to enter and no purchase is required

2.3.3 Applicants must submit up to three courses they are interested in taking, in order of preference, as well as an optional short description of why they wish to take the course

2.3.4  All applications must be submitted through the official online form provided at URL and received by findcourses.co.uk no later than 23:59 on the Closing Date. On this date, we will close the application form and no further submissions or edits to submissions will be allowed.

2.3.5 Any applications submitted to us by means other than the official online form will not be considered. 

2.3.6 Applications by email or post will not be accepted

2.3.7 findcourses.co.uk will not accept:

  • 2.3.7.1 responsibility for entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind; or

  • 2.3.7.2 proof of transmission as proof of receipt of entry to the free draw.

2.3.8 If you are drawn as a winner, your information will be removed from the draw list in subsequent draws to allow other participants a chance to win

2.8.9 Entries are limited to one per person. If you enter more than one, we will retain your first entry and discard any subsequent entries.

 

2.4 Submitting false or misleading information

2.4.1 All information included in your application and in any further communication regarding this scholarship must be, to the best of your knowledge, correct at the time of submission.

2.4.2 Purposefully providing false or misleading information is an offence. If we know or have reason to believe that you have provided false or misleading information, we may disqualify your application. If the scholarship has already been paid, you will be liable to repay to us the total sum of the scholarship awarded.

 


 

 

3. The Prize 

3.1 Eligible participants that enter the free draw will have the chance to win:

An eligible learning course up to the amount of £500 inclusive of VAT.

3.2 Announcing the winner

3.2.1 The winners will be chosen by random draw performed by a computer process

3.2.2 The first draw will take place on Wednesday 6 May 2020 (the First Draw date) and will continue quarterly during the following months: (Draw Dates):

First Draw Date: Wednesday 6 May 2020

Second Draw Date: Wednesday 5 August 2020

Third Draw Date: Wednesday 4 November 2020

Final Draw Date: Friday 26 February 2021

3.2.3 There will be up to 3 winners in each draw and a maximum of 12 winners across the duration of the draw

3.2.4 Winning applicants will be notified of the scholarship winner via email to the email address supplied in the application form. This email will be sent on the day of the draw.

3.2.5 Winning applicants will have the choice of whether they would like their first name (only) and their course selection to be published as part of the announcement. 

3.2.6 We will not share any information about the winners without their prior approval however we will need to provide this information to the ASA if requested in line with rule 8.28.5

3.2.7 Winning applications will be asked whether they are happy to share experiences of their funded course as part of promotion of the scholarship. Winners may decline this request.

 

3.3 Accepting the scholarship

3.3.1 If you are selected as the scholarship winner, you will receive an official "offer" via email on one of the draw dates, and must reply either accepting or rejecting this offer within 7 days of receiving the offer.

3.3.2 Failure to respond within this 7-day period may result in the scholarship offer being withdrawn and reassigned to another applicant.

3.4 Payment of funds

3.4.1 We will make payment of funds in a single installment directly to the training provider on your behalf. We do not make payment of funds to the student.

3.4.2 Payment of funds will be organized with the training provider and may take some time depending on the training provider’s specific regulations and processes surrounding the payment of sponsored funds. Thus, we cannot guarantee a specific payment date however:

3.4.2.1 We will do everything in our power to have secured a confirmed place on an eligible course within 30 days of the winner confirming acceptance of the funding.

3.4.3 The total value of the scholarship offered will be outlined in the official offer email. We reserve the right to offer any value of funds, up to the value of £500 including VAT. 

3.4.4 The Scholarship does not cover associated costs, including, but not limited to:

  • Travel costs to attend the course

  • Costs for any course-related material (including, but not limited to, text books, software and writing or note-taking material)

  • Exam costs (where not included in the price of the education)

3.4.5 There is no cash alternative

3.4 Taxation

3.4.1 We are not responsible for and cannot provide you with financial advice on taxation matters. The information provided here is of a general nature only and does not take into account your individual financial circumstances.

3.5 Privacy / Use of personal information

3.5.1 If you are offered the scholarship, your details including your name, photograph (where provided) and scholarship awarded will be featured on our websites and social media, as well as passed on to media for the purpose of promoting our brand, the scholarship, and future scholarships.

3.5.2 By accepting the scholarship, you waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product, the advertising copy or other matter that may be used to promote findcourses.co.uk as well as this and any other future scholarships.

3.5.3 If you are not selected as the recipient of the scholarship, read our company terms and conditions and privacy policy to learn about how findcourses.co.uk works with personal information.

3.6 Scholarship cancellation

3.6.1 We reserve the right to cancel the scholarship program at any point.

3.7 Application feedback

3.7.1 We will not provide feedback on applications.
