Hello, I need to take a health and safety qualification but I don't know which is best. Are there alternatives to NEBOSH that are just as well regarded?

There are a number of awarding organisations offering health and safety qualifications in the UK. While NEBOSH qualifications (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety) are very well-known, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are the best for you or your assessment preferences.

Here is a brief summary of some of the awarding organisations and qualifications to help you decide:

NEBOSH provides internationally-recognised Award, Certificate and Diploma Level qualifications, which are recognised by relevant professional membership bodies. Assessment is mostly through exams.
IOSH is the only Chartered body for health and safety professionals in the world. It sets standards, provides certified training and approves courses. IOSH courses are for non-health and safety expert personnel who need to manage risk and resources.
NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications) test professionals’ existing knowledge and skills, making them suitable for people already working in health and safety looking for a formal qualification.
NCRQ (National Compliance and Risk Qualifications) are achieved through assignments rather than exams, and focus on problem-solving, decision-making and managing change.
