Hi there, we are looking for an IT training provider that delivers training on Problem Management. Does anyone have experience of using IT providers for this?

Hi Trudy,

we personally at Findcourses.co.uk have never engaged an IT provider for this kind of training, but it is definitely a popular area that a lot of companies (particularly large organisations with complicated IT infrastructures) will certainly have to deal with.

What I can say is that the skills and training your IT department need (whether technical or more managerial staff) will depend to a large extent on the systems you have in place and/or on your organisation's approach to IT Service Management. What I mean by this is that different approaches will tend to make different recommendations regarding how to go about solving problems. This means that when you are searching, you may not necessarily find courses that are specifically called "IT Problem Management" (though they will of course exist!). You will probably have more success starting with the overall approach.

For example, ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) is a common and widely used IT Service Management methodology, which focuses on ensuring that IT services are aligned with business goals. The practices prescribed by this approach span a wide range of areas, including problem management. So if this is the overarching framework, you will probably want to look for providers that specialise in ITIL. The same is true of other such systems, such as COBIT or USMBOK.
Alternatively, you can opt for a more generalised provider of, for example, IT Project Management training, which should also contain an element of problem management.

A good idea may be to contact a number of different companies and enquire about bespoke programmes, so that you are sure that you're getting exactly what you need. As they are experts in the field, you can explain your requirements and they can give you advice about the kind of training that would best suit your needs. They can then also tailor the course so that it is perfect for your company and not an off-the-shelf solution that covers topics you are not interested it (or leaves out those that you are interested in!).

Hope this provides some useful insights for you.

Best regards,
The Findcourses.co.uk Team
