Introduction to Bricklaying

This short introductory course is ideal for those of you who want to gain some basic bricklaying skills. Those who complete the course will be provided with an Able Skills certificate, assured by City & Guilds. This course is entirely hands on with lots of content providing a great insight into the requirements of bricklaying. If you are considering achieving a bricklaying qualification but are unsure, this course will definitely help you to make up your mind.

This 5 day bricklaying course has been recognised by City & Guilds as a comprehensive introduction to bricklaying so upon successful completion of this courseyou will receive an Able Skills certificate assured by City & Guildsto confirm the skills that you will have learned.

This is an ideal beginners course and throughout the 5 days you will learn aspects of bricklaying ranging from setting out building lines to covering brick and block work. You will build

• A corner
• A pillar
• A pier
• A cavity wall

You will also learn:

• How to do pointing for face work and
• How to put in a damp course

This is a real hands-on instructor lead practical course. You will undertake a variety of tasks to ensure that you have a good understanding of the basic principles of bricklaying so that when you leave the centre, you feel confident in your bricklaying abilities.

If you are keen to learn more about aspects of bricklaying and ultimately feel that you would like to achieve a qualification then Able Skills offers aCity & GuildsAccredited Course option and also aNVQ Level 2bricklaying course..

If you decide to upgrade to City & Guilds qualifications, we will take into account the time already spent on this introductory bricklaying course and also deduct the course fees already paid this will reduce the overall time and cost to achieve a more robust City & Guilds qualification.

All tools and materials are provided throughout the course, you will just need to ensure that you have suitable clothing and protective footwear (mandatory).

All of our courses take place at our dedicated training centre in Dartford, Kent. The centre is easily accessible by road, being just 10 minutes from junction 1a on the M25. We are only a short walk from Dartford train station which is served by frequent trains taking 35 minutes from central London. For anyone travelling from further away, we have our own accommodation available at only £25 per night.

The cost for this 5-day certificated Introduction to Bricklaying course is £445.00 including VAT. A £150.00 deposit will secure a booking and the balance can be paid on the start date. This course cannot be completed at weekends.
