Overview
This course covers corporation tax basics, including tax computations and capital allowances; VAT issues arising on property transactions; and due diligence issues on the purchase of a company.
Who is this for?
Corporate lawyers essentially deal with transaction taxes and therefore need to have a sound understanding of corporation tax and the relevant reliefs, capital allowances, VAT and Stamp Taxes and Capital Gains Tax.
This course is designed to provide an introduction to these important taxes and to put them into context.

- Corporation tax basics, including the Permanent Establishment rules and tax computations
- Earn-outs and how they are taxed
- Capital allowance claims on the purchase of buildings and relevant elections
- Loss relief provisions
- VAT on property transactions, including the Capital Goods Scheme and Partial Exemption
- Tax due diligence issues for purchases of companies
- Entrepreneurs’ Relief
PSC Elective
This course may be taken as a PSC elective, although it may also be attended by non-trainees.
