Course description
Overview
This course will deal with the main areas of work undertaken by criminal legal aid firms and explain the payment regimes. It will cover work done outside of the police station, police station work, Magistrates’ Court work and Crown Court work. In relation to Crown Court work there will be consideration of the payment regime for both Litigators and Advocates.

What will you learn?
- This course will provide you with an understanding of the billing of all aspects of criminal legal aid work.
- At the end of the course you will be familiar with the billing aspects of the following sources of work undertaken by criminal legal aid practices
- Work conducted outside of the police station
- Work conducted within the police station
- Magistrates’ Court work
- Crown Court work – both Litigators and Advocates
- Proceeds of crime work
PSC Elective
This course may be undertaken as a PSC elective, although it may also be attended by non-trainees.
