
Course description
Overview
This course will take you through the most important case-law and legislation in the area of alcohol, drugs and driving. The purpose of the course is to greatly increase your knowledge when dealing with defendants charged with the main offences contained in the Road Traffic Act 1988. The Sections are not easy to understand and they will be examined in some detail.

This course will consider all of the following factors:
- Sections 4 – 7A of the Road Traffic Act 1988 – the offences

- Special reasons
- Guidance published by the Sentencing Council
- Defences in this area

This course may be undertaken as a PSC elective, although it may also be attended by non-trainees.
