Course description
The level 2 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to the Level 3 study programme or employment in the Performing Arts industry. Over the year, students will collaborate to create the professional company "JOT Ensemble" and will work to create performances to a professional standard. Standing for Jack of Trade, the students time with the company will expose them to a range of techniques and skills that are multi-disciplinary in their approach.
- Broad experience of the performance profession: including skills in acting, dancing and singing.
- Broad experience of the styles and techniques of practitioners based around multi-disciplinary performance.
- Development of practical and theoretical skills in show production: including sound, lighting and marketing.
- Broad Practical and theoretical introduction to the principles and skills required for production and performance. This includes participating in the devising and performance of shows, working collaboratively in rehearsals and performing devised and original work.
- Exposure to industry experiences including guest speakers, trips and workshops.
- Collaborating with peers from other Creative Industries courses (such as 'Media') to produce high standard projects.
- Ability to work on devised and original works individually and in companies via self-directed and guided projects.
- Exposure to live or industry standard projects that aim to prepare students for a realistic representation of the performance field.
- Access to industry standard facilities and equipment including a full-sized theatre, rehearsal studios and gig spaces, green screen rooms and editing suites.
- English and Maths GCSE retakes (if a grade 4 is not achieved in either subject).
