Course description

Cupping Massage and Moxibustion Diploma:

Cupping Massage is based on an ancient technique. On this one-day course, students will learn to examine a client and to apply negative pressure with the use of glass cups. Cupping can alleviate pain, decrease swelling, increase range of motion in joints and speed up the healing process. By creating negative pressure above the surface of the tissues, we allow the surface tissue to be lifted upwards and changing the pressure on underlying tissues, such as nerves, capillaries and fascia. During this Massage Cupping Diploma, we will outline the theory and actions of massage cupping, the tools used to perform the technique and the basics of using the tools safely and effectively. Participants will learn how negative pressure massage cupping can release rigid soft tissue, loosen adhesion and lift connective tissue, bringing blood flow to skin and muscles. Included will be ways this technique can be used to stimulate lymphatic flow, decreasing swelling and increasing circulation to injured tissues. At the end of the day participants will leave the seminar armed with an additional useful technique that is non-invasive, painless and effective. Moxibustion is the technique of burning herbs, Moxa, to create localised heat to help with the loosening of tissues and general relaxation. It is a technique that is commonly combined with Cupping, although it is can be used separately on it's own. Both Cupping and Moxibustion are commonly used in combination with Acupuncture. The course includes: An outline of the indications and contraindications for the use of Cupping, an understanding of the use of negative pressure cupping to enhance the healing of injured and painful tissues by affecting the lymphatic, fascial, circulatory and nervous systems, The technique of negative pressure massage to the back, abdomen and extremities, Identification of conditions that benefit from the use of negative pressure massage cupping, both demonstration and practice of techniques of negative pressure massage and moxibustion to change the fascial structures and release adhesion and a plan to implement the techniques of cupping and moxibustion into existing practice.
