CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Award in Employment Law

This CIPD level 5 intermediate award programme is designed to provide delegates with a full understanding of the laws surrounding employment. Delegates will utilise practical case studies and address common work issues, enhancing their skills and confidence to apply the knowledge from this programme to their everyday work in accordance with the law and good practices.

CIPD offers their programmes and qualifications throughout the United Kingdom (including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff and Edinburgh), and internationally.

Programme Credits

Upon successful completion of this programme, delegates will receive the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in Learning and Development. This qualification has been accredited by the CIPD and is equivalent to QCF level 5.

Learning Outcomes

Successful delegates will leave this programme with the ability to:

  • Understand the purpose of employment law and how it is enforced
  • Manage recruitment and selection activities lawfully
    • The recruitment process, principles of discrimination law, contracts of employment, employment status

  • Manage change and reorganisation according to the law and best practice
    • Varying contracts, redundancy law, business transfers

  • Manage issues relating to pay and working time
    • Statutory rights in relation to pay, leave and working time, maternity, paternity and family-friendly rights

  • Ensure fair and lawful treatment at work
    • Health and safety, significance of implied duties, freedom of association

  • Manage performance and disciplinary matters
    • Wrongful, unfair and constructive dismissal, absence, conduct and capability, discipline and grievance procedures

  • Describe the role played by the employment tribunal
    • Composition, types of claims, case management, the hearing, alternative dispute resolution

Training Course Content

This programme is split into two modules and is structured as follows:

  • Module 1 : Introductory Workshop - Duration: 1 day
  • Module 2 : The Employment Law Practitioner - a complete approach - Duration: 3 days

Expenses

Full Up-front Qualification Fee £1,980 + VAT, Member Fee: £1,800 +VAT

You can either pay the full fee up-front, or pay on a course module by course module basis. If you pay on a course module by course module basis, you'll be invoiced for the two course modules separately for the total fee of:

  • CIPD Members: £1,800 + VAT
  • Non Members: £1,980 + VAT

The fees include all tuition, personal tutor support, assessment, course material and access to the dedicated Virtual Learning Environment. They do not include travel, accommodation, or the £30 registration fee for the intermediate level award if not a member of the CIPD, which is payable directly to the CIPD.
