We've all had the experience of leaving a a poorly structured meeting with the feeling that it's been a complete waste of valuable time.
This Chairing Effective Meetings course has been designed precisely to provide delegates with the skills to chair successful workplace meetings that leave participants feeling inspired, energised and with the feeling of having accomplished something useful. To this end, the 1-day programme will address the range of tools needed to ensure that any meeting planned is:
- Planned, structured and organised to achieve the desired objectives
- Timed in a sensible manner to give participants the chance to participate
Delegates will thus leave the training with the knowledge and skills to plan meetings that are well structured, well coordinated and strongly focused on reaching their pre-determined objectives.

This course covers the following topics:
Introduction to the Field of Meetings
- Types of Meetings we may have to chair
- The purposes of Meetings
- Public sector and Private Sector Meetings
- Formal and informal Meetings
Planning and Structuring Effective Meetings
An opportunity for participants to understand the key elements of planning and structuring any formal / informal Meeting. The session would also consider how this theory applies to the specific Meetings participants’ chair.
Leading Meetings Effectively
- The role of the Chairperson
- The skills of leading Meetings
- The skills of Facilitation
- Managing group dynamics
- Building on positive behaviours and managing dysfunctional behaviours
- Turning a “group” into a cohesive working team
- Maximising participation from Meeting attendees
There would be an opportunity for participants to practice many of the skills, tools and techniques discussed by way of some simulated “Meetings” exercises and to receive feedback on their performance.
The cost of this course is £285 + VAT per delegate.
The course cost includes:
- lunch and refreshments throughout the day
- delegate pack containing workbooks, copies of course slides & contact details for post-course tutor support
