Derbyshire County Council - Apprenticeship Training
Apprenticeships offer young people the opportunity to earn while they learn.
They involve both classroom and work-based training, so as well as working for an employer they will spend some time at a college or with a training provider.
It takes between one and three years to complete an apprenticeship.
It usually consists of three main parts:
- a vocational qualification related to the job
- functional skills (maths and English)
- a technical certificate.
After completing an apprenticeship or advanced apprenticeship, it is possible to progress into further professional training or higher education.
