What will I learn?
This course is designed to support students to develop skills in Enterprise Gardening and Animal Care. Students will have an opportunity to grow fruit and vegetables in our polytunnel as well as cook and sell their produce. This introductory course will give you the basic knowledge required when caring for animals and the opportunity to gain practical skills. You will gain knowledge of Health and Safety working practices relevant to the field. Independent Living skills will be embedded in the course giving students an opportunity to develop greater independence with personal hygiene basic cooking healthy exercise employability and communicating with others. The programme of study will include Maths English and ICT development alongside the practical subjects. This course is for you if you have previous horticulture experience or are interested in progressing onto further learning or training in this field. You will also develop practical experience looking after animals feeding handling health checking and maintaining their accommodation and learn how to work with and handle animals safely. This course will develop your Maths and English by embedding essentials into every learning session. You will also work towards national Functional Skills qualifications. This course is all about developing you in readiness for the next step in your journey towards adulthood and independence.
