Level 2: UK Electricity Grids
This online course provides an overview of a modern national electricity network by using the UK as an example. It describes the current roles and responsibilities of the transmission and distribution networks and the standards and procedures that influence their future development. It also highlights the major changes in the mix of electricity generation and supply, as well as the development of the smart grid, which is necessary for accommodating flexible demand patterns as the UK system makes the transition to a low carbon economy.
This course is self-paced and can be started at any time.

Suitability - Who should attend?
This course is recommended for those with 1-2 years' experience in energy management. Although there are no official prerequisites, it is recommended that you have at least A level maths or equivalent.

CPD hours: 10
Successful completion of this course results in the EI Level 2 Certificate in UK Electricity grids.
This course also forms one of the modules of the EI's longer Level 2: Energy Management Professional course and qualification.
