Aims

This Medication Training course is aimed at staff who are responsible for the handling, administrating and disposal of medication within a care environment. Whether that be nurses, carers or community support workers.

The Safer Medication Handling Training will aim to improve delegates knowledge of the different types of medication, the various routes, the 7 R’s, errors and correct documentation.

The aim is to teach delegates best practice and cover current regulations and legislation. The aim of this is to improve their confidence when dealing with service users and their medication.

Learning Outcomes

On completion staff will have a much improve awareness of their roles and responsibilities in relation to administering medication.

Staff will have a great understanding of the legislation and regulation surrounded medication in a care setting.

Staff will be able define the 7 R’s and have a greater understanding of errors and relevant actions.

Staff will understand the importance of infection control and correct risk assessing.

Staff will have undertaken a practical exercise involving MAR charts and medication boxes
