Apprenticeship Description

Bespoke Saddler - Level 3 - Apprenticeship Standard

Making and repairing horse saddles.

Entry requirements

Set by employer, but typically candidates will have experience working with leather products. Being able to double hand and single/back stitch would be an advantage.

Qualifications

Before taking their end-point assessment apprentices must: * have achieved English and maths GCSE grades 9 to 4 (equivalent to A* to C) * have completed a level 3 diploma in saddlery (bridle and saddle making)

What apprentices will learn

  • pattern measuring and construction
  • hand and machine stitching
  • using, maintaining and storing work equipment
  • how to select and buy the right materials
  • assembling and finishing products
