Birkbeck University of London & Global PA Association - Level 4 'Certificate in Higher Management' - Part-Time 1-2 Year 120 credit programme.
The role played by Executive Assistants & Personal Assistants has transformed beyond recognition, with the EA & PA becoming a vital component of organisational decisions. Highly skilled PAs with a firm understanding of current management theories and practices and how these can be applied to support, co-ordinate and manage individual managers and/or groups of managers are in demand.
This certificate programme is made possible through a strategic partnership between Birkbeck, University of London and the Global PA Association. The overarching goal of this course is to equip highly skilled Executive PAs with the range of skills needed to manage, build and promote effective working practices and relationships within organisations.

Suitability - Who should attend?
This programme is a vital stepping stone for aspiring Executive PAs, Personal Assistants and Executive Assistants who wish to progress their careers, take on additional responsibility at work, support their leaders more effectively and open up opportunities within their organisations to move into management positions. This programme is 60 or 120 credits and offers the opportunity for a business management career pathway through an organisation. After completing the Certificate in Higher Management, Executive PAs and Personal Assistants can acquire further qualifications by completing Year 2 and 3 of a degree, (such as Birkbeck's BA in Management or BSc Business).

On completion you will receive 120 credits, the first year of a degree in Business or Management - a stepping stone to a full degree and opportunities to climb the career ladder.
Training Course Content
Birkbeck, University of London Certificate in Higher Management for PAs - Course structure
On this course, you will be required to successfully complete modules worth up to 120 credits, made up of six 15-credit modules and one 30-credit module, to be awarded the Certificate of Higher Education in Management for PAs.
If you successfully complete 60 credits you will also have the option of being awarded a Certificate of Continuing Education in Management for PAs as an exit award should you be unable to complete, for whatever reason, a further 60 credits to achieve the Certificate of Higher Education.
To complete the Certificate of Higher Education, you are required to study 6 compulsory modules, comprising five 15-credit modules and one 30-credit module, making a total of 105 credits, and then select one optional 15-credit module (listed below).

30 credits will be awarded for successful completion of The 7 Key Skills PA Management Programme delivered by the Global PA Association & Training Academy.

- The Assertive & Influential PA Masterclass
- The Executive PA Manager Masterclass
The Masterclasses, which are a compulsory element of the programme, aim to develop the core skills base of personal assistants to enable them to maximise their potential within the workplace. Topics covered include 7 key skills, effective time management, team working, board-level case study, project management, emotional intelligence, assertiveness, personal effectiveness, coaching and social media.
The Global PA Association is an external organisation working in partnership with Birkbeck to provide this programme (you will pay fees directly to the Global PA Association for the 7 Key Skills PA Management Programme).
The cost of this programme is £750 per module payable to Birkbeck, University of London. Students are also required to complete The 7 Key Skills PA Management Programme delivered by the Global PA Association & Training Academy ( 3 one day Masterclass sessions) which has a value of 30 credits towards the 60 or 120 credit Birkbeck programme.
