Course description

Students returning to education to complete a 1 year foundation programme giving access to university.

Access to HE courses are intended for mature students who have been out of education for some time. This generally means that students should be at least 19 when they start the course. Universities and colleges expect Access to HE applicants to have acquired a certain amount of life experience before they start an Access to HE course, so applicants who have only recently left school may be advised to follow a different route into higher education.

Study Methods

A variety of modes of delivery are used including lectures, group work and discussion, roblem solving activities, presentations and seminars, individual practical work in class, irected private study time, individual support and interviews.

How is the course assessed

There will be a variety of assessment methods for each unit in order to achieve credits, and there will be some

time constrained tests or examinations in some of the units.

Where next - Further Studies

Successful students can go on to study a HNC/D at Uxbridge College or a full or part-time degree at most UK universities.

Once completed further study at university, students can go into employment in the business sector.

Suitability - Who should attend?

A relevant Level 2 qualification. If you do not have GCSEs in English and maths at grade C (grade 5/4) or above you will take a formal test in both subjects. ICT skills are essential and you will have an interview and assessment.

Training Course Content

Tuition fees may apply for students aged 19+ and the cost depends on your circumstances. All 19+ students pay a £35 College registration fee and £5 for an ID card, additional materials and course costs may apply. Please contact the college for more details.
