This qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed when working with adults and young people in health and social care environments. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health care procedure.
The course has a range of pathways: Generic Health and Social Care, Dementia, Learning Disability, Nutrition, Safeguarding, English and maths for health and social care.
Course work will require you to undertake practical work experience, class presentations, charity projects and assignments all delivered in a practical working environment in the college.
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED
A professional approach is required for this course so you will be assessed on Course work, attendance, and behaviour. you will need to present a portfolio at the end off the year that reflects on your professional development.
WHERE NEXT - FURTHER STUDIES
Students can progress on to Level 3 relevant courses or apprenticeship programmes in the field of Health or Social Care.
Suitability - Who should attend?
Applicants need to have 4 x GCSEs grade 3 (grade D) or above preferably including both English & maths or a relevant Level 1 qualification. Candidates require a DBS check.
