This course is for anyone with an interest in learning and developing photography skills using a digital SLR camera.
The course will give you a basic understanding of photojournalism, documentary and art based photography and will also explore issues of photographic language and visual representation in digital photography. The course covers the practical and technical aspects of photography but a large part of the course looks at what you are shooting and why and how you can communicate ideas, views and feelings with photography. You will be taught how to use a digital SLR camera on a full manual setting (shutter speed, aperture, ISO light meter and white balance); together with the use of lens, framing and composition and fill-in flash. As part of your course and where the opportunity occurs literacy/numeracy together with speaking and listening skills will be developed.
