HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT LEVEL 5 INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATE CIPD (QCF): The Human Resource Management CIPD (QCF) Level 5 Certificate and Diploma courses, validated by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), provides professionals working in human resources (HR) with the necessary knowledge, skills and accreditation to progress to senior HR positions. The course covers a wide range of current HR issues and is designed to be applied directly to your current role. *Did you know?*Our students go on to take up a wide variety of senior management positions and receive promotion opportunities. Past students have secured positions at a number of large, city-based firms, including banks and legal practices. Award: - Human Resource Management CIPD Level 5 Certificate- Human Resource Management CIPD Level 5 Diploma- The awards are Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) accredited qualifications. - Application method: Apply directly to Havering College- Location: Havering College of Further and Higher Education - Validating Body: Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)- Students who complete the course successfully will receive a certificate or diploma at level 5, according to the number of modules taken, from CIPD. Programmes are validated by CIPD and are subsequently revalidated as appropriate.- Professional body accreditation: Successful completion of this courses satisfies the academic requirements for membership of CIPD and provides students with a status of CIPD Associate Membership (ACIPD). - Duration: 1.5 years (part-time) - Academic year for 2018/19: 24th September 2018 to 13th December 2019*Timetables*The course runs on one evening a week and students can choose either a Monday or Thursday evening, according to availability. The exact days are subject to change and timetables will be available in your student handbook at the beginning of the course. *Teaching* You will be taught through a combination of lectures, workshops and one-to-one tutorials:- Lectures will provide you with most of the fundamental subject information knowledge that you will require and will be taught in large groups. - Workshops will tackle specific topics in more detail.- One-to-one meetings with your personal tutor will give you the opportunity to discuss topics in detail, highlight any areas of difficulty, and discuss your progression through the course.*Independent learning* When you are not attending lectures, workshops and one-to-one tutorials you will be expected to continue learning independently through self-study. Typically, this will involve reading journal articles and books, working on individual and group projects, undertaking research in the library and preparing coursework assignments and presentations. Your independent learning will be supported by our excellent facilities, including the library and learning zone. *Overall workload*Per week, you will typically have three hours of lectures and workshops. Tutorials will be scheduled in as needed, typically for one hour every four weeks. Over the course of the year, you will spend 45% of your time in timetabled teaching and learning activity:- Teaching and learning and assessment: 110 hours- Independent learning: 136 hours

Suitability - Who should attend?

For entry to this course, you will need to have gained a level 3 CIPD qualification or be currently working as a human resources officer/advisor. Additional requirements: GCSE English at grade 4 (C) or above, or equivalent level 2 qualificationAll students need to be employed in an HR roleAdditional information for international students:If English is not your first language, you will need an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of at least 5.5 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking), or an equivalent English language qualification.
