Conducting Successful Appraisals and Reviews - In-House

This one-day in-house course is designed to provide your staff with an insight into the very real benefits of appraisals and reviews, and equip them with the skills needed to use them effectively in staff development.

The programme allows participants to share real life experiences from the workplace and to take part in a number of role playing exercises that will help them pinpoint areas for development, and practise the skills needed to plan and run effective appraisal meetings. In addition, they will learn to improve their listening and communication skills, taking an honest, transparent and fair approach towards all staff. 

The session is delivered on your company premises, allowing your employees to assimilate knowledge and skills in a familiar environment, but can also be delivered in Hemsley Fraser's state-of-the-art training facility. Tailoring is available upon request.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This in-company course is suitable for those who would like to develop confidence and effectiveness in carrying out staff appraisals.

It is designed for those with little or no experience in this area.

Pre-course activity

In order to focus on their development needs, they will be asked to think about the documentation currently used before, during and after appraisal meetings in their current workplace. 

Outcome / Qualification etc.

By the end of this course your employees will be able to:-

  • Understand the tools needed and benefits of running appraisal meetings
  • Confidently plan and prepare for a successful review meeting
  • Improve your communication skills and remain fair and consistent with all staff
  • Improve your listening skills and tackle performance problems effectively.
  • Develop honest and open communications during review meeting.
  • Show empathy and inspire and motivate staff to perform better
  • Understand how to set clear objectives

They will accrue 7 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points.
