Course description
This is primarily a studio based one where practical lessons will be offered. The primary emphasis is on studio work, using basic techniques such as pinching, coiling, slab pottery etc, leading to the understanding of different ceramic cultures and a portfolio of finished pieces by the end of the term. Learners will showcase these finished pieces at the end of the period of study. By the end of the course you will have been given the opportunity to: develop an understanding of the potential and limitations of the medium; acquire basic knowledge in pottery and ceramics; demonstrate creative abilities through the use of the medium; gain knowledge in the history of pottery/ceramics in other cultures.
