The role of the Road Safety Engineer could be considered a complex role which covers a multitude of disciplines within the field of traffic and transportation. Despite the niche role a Road Safety Engineer holds, there has been a lack of any specific formal qualification which the practitioner can undertake to demonstrate their experience and knowledge. The IHE recognises this shortfall and this course offers the opportunity for the Road Safety Engineer to expand their knowledge and demonstrate their competency in all aspects of road safety engineering. Competencies Core Road Safety Engineering Basic Principles Health and Safety/CDM Collision Data, Analysis and Scheme Identification Highway design and Traffic Engineering Subject Specific Education, Information, Training and Publicity Monitoring/Post Opening Performance Evaluation Road Safety Policy, Targets, Requirements and Advice, Best Practice Guidance Documents Economics and Funding Legal Issues in Road Safety Risk Assessment Safety Inspections Road Safety Audit The course is 4 days in total duration. This is made up of 2 days, separated by an appropriate interval, and a further 2 days.
