Course description
Effective Risk Registers and Assessments
A good risk register informs corporate decision-making and allows an organisation to show how it is identifying and managing threats to its objectives effectively. It is the repository for the most up-to-date risk management knowledge for a team or organisation.
The risk register is populated by a wide range of different risk assessments and monitoring activities, each of which needs to be selected for its relevance to the context in which it needs to be used.
This course gives you practical tools and techniques to create your own risk management toolkit, inclusive of risk register and selection of appropriate risk assessment techniques.
Increasingly a form of software is used as the risk register, however the requirements of what that software needs to do, and how it connects into the broader organisation, often needs to be mapped out prior to the purchase or update of the software. Machine learning and network analysis can also significantly support the functionality of a risk register, however the foundations of what needs to be included in the register can be housed in the simplest of tools such as excel.
The population or update of a risk register is often undertaken through a risk workshop. These workshops should be creative and inspirational. A variety of different risk assessment techniques can and should be used, each of which can be workshopped in a manner that engages participants and encourages constructive input.
Find out how to engage the interest of all stakeholders to capture valuable information from them, and how to inform decision-makers of the greatest threats they face.
