This course has been designed in consultation with the Interior Decoration and Design industry and teaches students the skills that they need to succeed quickly and conveniently. Course units include: Introduction to interior design and decoration, elements of principles of design, functional and decorative use of colour, lighting effects on colour, planning a harmonious decorative colour scheme for a client, light and colour I, light and colour II, light and colour III, decorating styles, how to decorate (step by step), building systems and components, materials, furnishings, interior planting, job seeking skills and starting your own interior design business.
Career Prospects: Interior design decorators are more in demand than ever before. Most are hired to design and decorate either homes or corporate offices. Here are just a few of the types of businesses that need interior designers and decorators: advertising agencies, art galleries, bed and breakfasts, boutique stores, corporate head offices, hotels law firms, model homes for home builders, museum stores, public relations firms, restaurants and many other types of businesses from doctors offices to luxury car dealerships. The maximum time given to complete a program is three years. This course is recognised and accredited by the International Association of Private Career Colleges (IAPCC).
