Cyber Security Technologist – Level 4 Apprenticeship

Working in a wide range of sectors, cyber security technologists require an understanding of security concepts and technology to deliver solutions for their organisation.

Undertaking a variety of technical and analytical tasks, individuals work to achieve required cyber security outcomes and mitigate risks arising from threats.

Employees in this occupation interact with a broad range of people from their own organisation and externally including suppliers and customers, technical specialists, non-specialists, peers and senior representatives.

This apprenticeship gives learners the option to specialise as either a cyber security engineer, cyber risk analyst or a cyber defender and responder.

Teaching and learning

  • You will be allocated a dedicated Skills Teaching Assessor.
  • An individual learning plan developed with you and your Skills Teaching Assessor.
  • Formal progress reviews with your assessor every 8-10 weeks.
  • Coaching and mentoring forms an integral part of your individual learning journey to ensure you have the most appropriate guidance and support to complete your programme.
  • Mutually agreed SMART targets that take into consideration your individual ambitions and career goals.

Suitability - Who should attend?

Entry Requirements for English and maths:

Apprentices are required to meet the initial entry points for English and maths as follows:

  • For level 2 Apprenticeship training for companies the minimum entry level for English and maths is ‘Entry level 3’ (E3).
  • For all level 3 and 4 Apprenticeship training for companies the minimum English and maths level 1, ideally level 2.
  • For level 5 and 6 Apprenticeship training for companies, the minimum English and maths should be level 2, some individual circumstances may be considered at level 1.

Initial assessment is completed prior to starting the course. All applicants will be supported to attain these entry levels prior to joining the course, or whilst on the course, where possible.

Apprentices working with young people and vulnerable adults would be required to hold a DBS clearance as necessary.

Eligibility:

You’ll need to be:

  • 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays
  • living in England
  • not in full-time education

Continuing Studies

This apprenticeship is recognised for entry to both IISP and BCS Associate Membership and for entry onto the Register of IT Technicians confirming SFIA level 3 professional competence. Those completing the apprenticeship are eligible to apply for registration.
