Course description
The Extended Certificate introduces you to Health and Social Care and provides a good basis for progression on to a Level 3 qualification in this area. Units studied include: Communication, Individual Rights, Individual Needs, Cultural Diversity and Human Lifespan Development in Health and Social Care. Specialist Units include: Social Influences on Health and Wellbeing; Promoting Health and Wellbeing; The Impact of Nutrition on Health and Wellbeing; Equality and Diversity in Health and Social Care; Individual Rights in Health and Social Care; Human Body Systems and Care of Disorders; Services in Health and Social Care; Creative and Therapeutic Activities in Health and Social Care. You can progress on to a Level 3 course in Health and Social Care. You may also consider further training or study in related fields such as Social Care, an Apprenticeship or employment.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Students need to have four GCSE's at grade D/3 to include English Language and Mathematics or you will have successfully passed a Level 1 course with Functional skills English and Mathematics. Selection is by interview with tutors, a satisfactory reference is required and where requested diagnostic screening.
