What will I learn?

This course is ideal for candidates looking to progress into a management post or own their own business whist developing their technical hairdressing skills.

The Hairdressing industry is one of the fastest growing industries within the UK with a vast amount of employment opportunities available. This high level diploma qualification can help you set up and run your own hairdressing business. You will gain the skills to manage staff and resources, learn how to develop and promote your business and still develop your technical skills through colour correction and managing the creation of a hairstyle collection. Students will study mandatory units which will include:-

  • Quality management of client care in the hair and beauty sector
  • Principles of studio photography
  • Hair colour correction
  • Manage the creation of a hair style collection
  • Sales management in the hair and beauty sector
  • Management of health, safety and security in the salon

This course is a logical step towards a managerial position within the Hair and Beauty industry. Students can progress into a management post or own their own business. Students may also progress onto the HNC/D in Hair & Beauty Management course or have the opportunity to gain entry to university or paid employment within the industry.

Suitability - Who should attend?

What do I need to know?

Subject/level: Level 3 in Hairdressing. In addition, applicants should have four GCSEs at grades A*-C to include English and Maths, or an alternative level 2 qualification in Numeracy and Literacy. Applicants should be proficient in written English and should be working in the hairdressing industry. Applicants must have access to a suitable salon where they will be supported in a junior management or supervisory role.
