Course description

ESOL Horizons Entry Level 2 (16yrs – 19yrs):

The ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Skills for Life course is for students who are 16-19 years of age and have recently arrived in the UK. This intensive English course will develop your skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking English, as well as improving your skills in Maths, ICT, Citizenship and British Values. Specialist ESOL teachers teach your courses and in most lessons there is a teaching assistant who will be there to help you and your peers.

On the ESOL Horizons Entry Level 2 course all students study the same set of qualifications. These are: Trinity ESOL Skills for Life Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing; Entry Level 2 Pearson Edexcel ICT Functional Skills; Entry Level 2 AQA Personal and Social Education Award and Mathematics – you will be tested for the right level.

The Trinity ESOL Skills for Life course is assessed by three exams a speaking exam, a reading exam and a writing exam. The other qualifications are assessed by a combination of traditional written exams and coursework. If you successfully pass all of the exams at Entry 2 level or higher then you are able to continue the following year on the ESOL Horizons Entry Level 3 course or continue on other foundation learning courses at Kingston College.
