Course description
This is the GCSE Combined Science: Trilogy (Evening) course. It is an ideal qualification for adult students considering taking a broader-based approach to Science as it has elements from each of the main science subjects. This is a good subject to consider if you are thinking about a possible career in teaching or nursing where a Science GCSE at 4 or better is usually compulsory.
This course is equivalent to two GCSEs. This is the linear 9-1 GCSE qualification. A linear qualification means that students must sit all their exams at the end of the course in June. The qualification can be taken at either Foundation Tier or Higher Tier. The lessons will involve a mixture of classroom based lectures and practical lessons in our specialist science laboratories. The syllabus studies a combination of Biology, Chemistry and Physics
The course is assessed by six written exams, each worth 50% of the final marks. The exam questions will be a mixture of multiple choice; structured; closed short answer and open response questions. Exam Board: AQA Specification. On completion students progress to Level 3 qualifications in science.
