Access to Higher Education (Art and Design pathway) CERTA Diploma Level 3

This course offers mature students an alternative route to study art or design at university level. It is a very challenging but rewarding course, which will broaden your skills and understanding within Art and Design. At all stages, you will be encouraged to adopt an innovative, creative and personal approach to your work in order to build an individual portfolio for application to higher education.

Guidance and help is given to the preparation and application of under graduate courses and to the selection from a wide range of art subjects to find the appropriate institutions that will best suit your career intentions. You will be introduced to Drawing, Painting, Photography, 3D Sculpture and Design, Digital art, Textiles and Contextual studies before specializing in your chosen field of interest.

Students will develop their study skills, lateral thinking and analytical understanding of artworks across the broad spectrum of art and design.

There are no exams; however, assessments and constructive feedback on progress take place at key points throughout the year. You will expect to complete assignment briefs and develop a portfolio of work throughout the academic year. An external examiner will also assess the Final work. This access course will lead to a university degree, which will help you find a career in art or as a designer.
