This course is ideal for those who are looking for a career in nursing, social work, teaching, youth and community or related careers, this course is for you. The Extended Diploma is a highly popular course and is an excellent route to university or into employment in the health and social care sector. It will give you the opportunity to progress into a rewarding and challenging career and will give you valuable work experience in a setting relevant to your interests.
The course includes: personal and professional development in health and social care, health psychology, sociology, developing effective communication in health and social care, caring for children and young people and anatomy and physiology. You will carry out at least one work placement, which will help you to put what you have learned at college into practice.
Students will be assessed with presentations, role play, essays and reports. On completion, they can progress onto a degree in areas such as social science, nursing, social work or teaching. Students could enter a career in nursing, social work, teaching or youth and community.
Suitability - Who should attend?
Students should have a minimum of five GCSEs grade A*-C, including English language, and maths at grade D or above, or a level 2 qualification at overall merit grade, English at level 2 and maths at level 1, a satisfactory interview, and you will need to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check which the college will pay for.
