Course description

Marketing Level 6 (Part-Time)

This course is ideal for marketers in operational, supervisory or management roles who want to develop their marketing knowledge and skills. Also suitable for account managers and business development managers.

This course follows a blended learning model (a mix of face to face and online learning) so for each 10 week module the delivery is likely to be as follows, starting with 'Strategic Marketing'. For each module you will:

  • Receive learning materials from us and CIM
  • Attend college for 3, 2 hour evening sessions in each of the modules
  • Have access to our VLE
  • Receive online tutorial support
  • Receive assessment support

CIM mark all the submitted work. You will need to commit to around 11 hours a week of study time.

As well as studying with us you also have to be registered with CIM. You pay a registration and then a fee for each of the modules which covers some learning materials and all your assessment fees. Full membership comes once you have achieved your qualification.

Suitability - Who should attend?

For marketers in operational, supervisory or management roles who want to develop their marketing knowledge and skills. Also suitable for account managers and business development managers.

Entry requirements:

One or more of the following is required to gain entry onto this qualification:

  • CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional Marketing
  • Any relevant Level 4 qualification
  • Foundation Degree in Business with Marketing
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from a recognised university, with at least one third of credits coming from marketing content (i.e. 120 credits in Bachelor’s degrees or 60 credits in Master’s degrees)
  • Professional practice (suggested two years marketing in an operational role) and diagnostic assessment onto Level 6

Training Course Content

There are 3 units which will make up the Level 6 Award and Diploma in Professional Marketing qualification.

Strategic Marketing (assessed by assignment)

This module will enable you to take a strategic approach to planning that achieves a sustainable competitive advantage.  You will focus on three core elements essential to developing strategy: situation analysis; planning; implementation and control.

Innovation in Marketing (assessed by assignment)

Take a visionary approach and embed innovation to help your organisation deal with the challenges of a fast-moving marketplace. You will be able to understand the relationship between marketing and innovation and recognise the key factors in building and nurturing innovation within the marketing function.

Managing Brands (assessed by assignment)

Take a strategic approach to branding at a product/service level so that it is consistent with the corporate brand and impacts reputation positively. You will gain the skills to establish and position brand strategy, and also manage the brand so it continues to deliver the brand promise.

You can study any of them as 'stand-alone' modules and on achievement are awarded a Level 6 Award in Professional Marketing.
