Business skills for Designers - Running a profitable design practice 1 day workshop
As many employed designers have aspirations to set up their own business, KLC Design School has developed three sequential one-day workshops, which can be taken individually or together, to assist those designers who wish to do so.
Running a profitable design practice is an intensive one-day course,designed to provide designers with practical advice on how to plan and organise the daily running of a studio, with how to ensure that the business thrives and develops.
The way in which businesses are run on a daily basis can be the making or breaking of them. In this business skills for designers course delegates will gain an understanding of what ingredients are required to run and succeed in a profitable design business, either interior or garden. Practical advice and recommendations will be given by practising professionals, together with personal accounts of their daily business dealings.
Suitability - Who should attend?
This course is suitable for those who have been employed as a designer in the industry and who wish to set up and run their own professional interior or garden design studio. Suitable for both interior and garden design students.
This course can be taken individually, or together with the other Business Skills for Designers courses:
Outcome / Qualification etc.
On completion of this course students will achieve the prestigious KLC Certification.
In this Business Skills for Designers practising professional designers will give advice, address individual concerns, together with anecdotal evidence, on:
- Office set up
- Client briefing, proposal, stages of a project
- Administration and project files
- Estimates, invoices, statements & schedules of variations
- Managing the client, workforce and your time
- Accounts and VAT
- Implementation of a project
- Site visits
- Site meetings and minutes
- Signing off
- Forecasting future projects
- Keeping up to date with CPDs, exhibitions, other designers
The total cost of this course is: £148.00 (inc VAT) and includes all the materials required on drawing courses.
