Course description

Freestyle Jazz: Solo Dancer – Online

The course will be run online using Zoom for the live class sessions and either the Moodle page for the course or some other system for the distribution of the electronic resources for the session sitting alongside this. Although there will be some adjustments that need to be made for the online version of this course, we will aim to keep the experience as close as possible to that of a face to face course taught in the Centre.

Steps will be demonstrated by the tutor for learners to follow as a group before performing to music. The class will begin with a warm up and some exercises and combinations to improve coordination before putting steps together into short routines that will be danced to uplifting music.

Suitability - Who should attend?

No previous dance experience necessary. This course is designed for anyone who is interested in moving to music and learn some simple dance combinations in a range of modern dance styles including jazz, freestyle / disco and other creative styles. Options will be given to choose higher or lower impact movements depending on experience and fitness levels as required.

Training Course Content

This course will cover simple freestyle jazz technique exercises (walks, kicks / flicks, basic turns) and short dance routines designed to gently move the body in a fun way and improve coordination and balance. Routines will be danced solo with options given to suit different fitness or experience levels and a range of music and dance styles will be included.
