Photography – Digital Saturdays
A fun and creative course aimed to create a portfolio of work on different subjects as you increase your knowledge of digital photography week by week. Once you know the basics of Photography, here is a chance for you to set aside time to learn the practical and creative side of the DSLR camera. Learn from others and also share your experiences behind the lens.
Suitability - Who should attend?
Digital Saturdays is for students who has learnt the basics of digital photography and wants to progress and develop more creative skills. You will already have your own DSLR or inter-changeable lens camera and will be looking to use it more creatively and extend your pho-tographic understanding across different genres.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
By the end of the course you should be able to:
- Understand how to make images across different photographic genres from portraiture to architecture and from still life to street photography.
- Use natural or artificial light creatively to get exposure, atmosphere and colour right and understand how to control that look in camera
- Select and edit your best images to make a portfolio and have begun a photographic project on a subject of interest to you.
Training Course Content
The course will cover a range of photographic genres from portraiture to architecture and from still life to street. Throughout you will be encouraged to think creatively and to engage with the ideas and intentions behind the image. The course is primarily for image making but includes simple editing sessions to show the benefits of RAW over JPG files and how to create composite images such as a montage or panorama.

The course will be run on Zoom, please make sure you have installed it in advance of your first class on your computer or mobile device.

Continuing Studies
What this course could lead to
Progress to more advanced photography courses or enrol on Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and web design courses.
Some guidance will be offered for students who are interested in working with photography after completing the course.
