Photography – DSLR Introduction
A short course to introduce you to the technical and creative use of a DSLR camera. Take the camera off automatic and learn about exposure, depth of field, aperture, shutter control, ISO and white balance. Bring your camera to each session or if you do not have your own the college has a limited number of
cameras but you will need to book one.

Training Course Content
We begin with the basic camera settings. Though your camera's manual provides you with a wealth of information necessary for taking better pictures, you will learn hands on what all those buttons mean. We break down the commonly used terms and photography vocabulary and supply clear handouts for you to brush up at home.
This six week course will teach you how to:
' Choose the right shooting mode
' Set your ISO
' Adjust your white balance
' Correct your exposure
' Choose the right image format (JPEG or RAW)
' Work with Aperture and Depth of Field
' Control your Shutter Speeds
' Take creative portraits
' Improve your landscape photographs
' Freeze movement
' Take creative still life
' Transfer your photos from camera to computer
' Make some minor image adjustments using Photoshop
Be confident enough to use your DSLR camera in the Photography - Digital Saturday course. Also be able to produce high quality photographs using your own digital camera.
