Course description

Self-Promotion For Artists, Designers and Creatives – Online

During this course you will discover a range of methods to help enable you and your work to get into the public domain.

It is vital for artists to have a good online presence, and this course will help you to be confident in building high quality content for a professional website, social media accounts (Instagram/Twitter) and more.

You will also learn about how and where to look for creative opportunities. Eg. exhibitions, publications and residencies.

This course will encourage you to promote your work to a wider audience whilst building a professional online presence to further your creative career.

Classes will involve some self study and information being sent to you via email or Moodle. The course will be run via Zoom, please make sure you have installed in in advance of your first class.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This course is for artists, designers and creatives who would like to take their career to the next level and learn about the multiple ways in which they can further themselves and their work through self-promotion.

Training Course Content

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • Confidently develop content for an online artist presence (Website/Social Media) in a professional manner.
  • Understand how to photograph and document their work well.
  • Be guided in where to look and how to apply for opportunities and open calls.
  • Gain an understanding into how to confidently push themselves forward into the art world.

It will sign post students to several new specialist courses to create content they need for self-promotion including:

Social Media Marketing, Photographing your artwork, Writing creative CVs, Statements and proposals, built an artist designer website and staging an independent exhibition.

Course delivery details

  • Teaching methods (through Zoom): Visual demonstration and verbal explanation. Powerpoints. Written handouts with visual diagrams. One-to-one teaching. Group discussions
  • Learning methods: Hands-on practical activities, Reading handouts and following instructions. One-to-one and group discussion.
