Following the EU Trade Secrets Directive, the UK enacted the Trade Secrets Regulations which have now been in force for over 2 years and exist in parallel to the common law of breach of confidence. Effective protection of trade secrets starts with practical considerations, for which an understanding of the typical infringement scenarios is helpful.
The webinar introduces these areas for lawyers who need not have any existing familiarity with the subject in order to benefit.
Topics will include: what is protectable; what can go wrong (including cases on misappropriation by patenting), contractual and non-contractual safeguards, including the pros and cons of patenting versus secrecy and much more.
