Course description
This practical course will give you a deeper understanding of world travel and teach you skills to prepare you for further study or a career in the industry. As part of the course, you will have a two-week work placement in the sector. Previously our students have worked with companies including Travelodge, Thomson and National Express. We also run several visits a year to give you an understanding of how UK visitor attractions operate successfully, this has included the London Aquarium, Tower of London and Thorpe Park.
Units include: Customer service; Marketing; The UK as a travel destination; Visitor attractions. There is a continuous assessment of coursework, role play, presentations, case studies. There are also some externally moderated exams. After completion of this course, you can move on to our Level 3 course to deepen your understanding and improve your job prospects.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Students need to hold Three GCSEs A*-D/9-3 including English or maths; OR a relevant Level 1 qualification plus English and maths assessed by us to be at an appropriate level. If you don't meet all the entry requirements for this course don't worry - you can still apply. You may need to take a preparatory Level 1 course with us first to pick up all the skills you need for further study. We'll discuss this at your interview.
