Course description

Acrylic, Resin and Polypropylene Jewellery with Sarah King

Explore working with acrylics, resins and polypropylene in this three day course. Develop your own designs combining plastics with metal to create some stunning and original pieces of jewellery

Suitability - Who should attend?

Non regulated Community Learning provision, Crafts, Creative Arts and Design

Outcome / Qualification etc.

What will you learn

We will explore the use of plastics in jewellery by looking at finished pieces by different designer/makers. Please bring in any examples or images that you may have.
On the first day we will use premade rubber moulds to make a piece in resin. We will explore mixing and colouring the resins. We will also learn how to make our own rubber moulds that can be used the following week. With any time that’s left we will experiment with making jewellery using acrylic sheet. On the second day we will clean and polish our resin pieces and we will make a textured and heat formed acrylic bangle or pendant. We can use our individual moulds for making another resin piece but you will need to allow time for the resin to set so this piece will not be finished in the class.

In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment
