What you will learn
Best known as the inventor of Pointillism, Seurat was the leader of the Neo-Impressionists. Learn about the influence of Seurat and Neo-Impressionism on modern art and artists and enjoy the sheer intensity of colour and complexity in the paintings while gaining an understanding of the influence they had on modern art into the twentieth century.
By the end of the course you will be able to
- Talk about the life and work of Georges Seurat and others in his world
- Understand Neo-Impressionism and Pointillism
- Recognise the style or method of Pointillism in artworks

You may like to attend another of our day Summer Shorts courses in Art History. Artists include: Kathe Kollwitz, Lubaina Himid and Giotto, as well as courses focussing on Printmaking, Japanese art and Architecture.
You may like to continue to study Art History at Morley with this tutor or with another member of our team next academic year exploring different themes. Suitability - Who should attend?
There are no entry requirements. This course will be accessible to you if you have no prior knowledge of art history of medieval art or history and is open to learners with varying backgrounds, as well as art practitioners.
