Documentary Film Making: Beginners
This course will provide an overview of documentary film history, filming techniques, and the essential skills to enable you to produce a short documentary. You will learn camera techniques, develop a narrative structure, as well as work with sound.

What will you learn
In this course you will be using digital video cameras. The tutor will give short talks and demonstrate technical aspects of film and video-making. You will explore different techniques through practical exercises and a short project. The tutor will give guidance and support in how to work through the stages. There will be an emphasis on sharing knowledge and experience through discussion, show and tell, and group crit. The tutor will facilitate group discussions, and work with students one-to-one and in groups.
Learning will be supported by course hand-outs, and the tutor will provide links to online resources.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
